The Casino Changes at Eastern Area of Chicago

That this is a good time for change for casino facilities in northwest Indiana is hardly a new development in East Chicago. The Horseshoe in Hammond has recently opened its brand new facility, named the "mother of all boats"-that is sure to become a tourist destination in the Midwest. Aside from the Blue Chip in Michigan City is preparing for the opening of its new hotel later this year as it tries to recover from its losses to the Four Winds casino in New Buffalo, Michigan.

Significant changes, but at East Chicago's casino facilities, change has been a constant factor. On August 26th, 2008, the latest change is the rebranding of the former Resorts Casino to Ameristar. Since buying the casino last year, Ameristar, has steadily change the casino, remodeling restaurants, changing the player rewards club and bringing the entire facility in line with its other facilities in Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, Mississippi and Nevada.

Rebecca Theim, Ameristar's director of external communications said that they have spent a total of $30 million in remodeling the casino. She said that they also have made a complete upgrade regarding the food and beverage in the facility and that there are important changes to the Waterfront Grill, making it more interesting and in line within the Ameristar casino's standard of culinary excellence. Rebecca Theim said that they also upgrade the buffet with higher quality food selection than before. They also remodeled the casino gaming floor with new games and bars on the three of the four levels of the casino boat.

The sports bar is also completely remodeled, which has now twenty new plasma screen televisions and a homey atmosphere. Ameristar also placed 1,800 new slot machines in the gaming floor from IGT, WMS, Aristocrat and Bally. Along with poker and baccarat rooms at the top level of the casino, casino tables on the other decks include craps with 100x probabilities, Spanish 21, Caribbean Stud Poker, Let It Ride Bonus, Three Card Poker, Pai Gow Poker and northwest Indiana's standard blackjack game- 6 decks, the dealers stands on a total of seventeen, players may double their hand after dividing their pairs.
