Cherokee Nation Breaks Ground on Eight Casino Facility in Ramona

Cherokee Nation Entertainment, the gambling, entertainment and retail arm of the Cherokee Indian Nation, is breaking ground on its eight gaming facility in the northeastern part of Oklahoma on May 19th, 2010. The new Cherokee casino facility will be constructed in Ramona.

The gambling operation is crafted to be implemented into two parts, which will create more than one hundred jobs in the area over the next few years. The CEO of the Cherokee Nation Entertainment (CNE), David Stewart, said that their main goal is to create good paying and stable employment opportunities for their Cherokee communities.

Stewart said that they have proven that their gaming operations are a significant asset to the communities in which they are living in. He added that the city of Ramona recognizes this fact and has been very cooperative and excellent partner to collaborate with.

The ten thousand square foot gaming facility will initially feature more than two hundred electronic games and concession-style food and beverage offerings.

CEO Stewart said that they are beginning construction immediately, including roads and foundation. He said that they anticipate having the facilities in place and opening to players in early summer.

The Cherokee Casino facility in Ramona will be on a twenty-acre site west of Interstate 75 and north of the exit of Ramona, between Bartlesville and Tulsa. The Cherokee Nation picked the location because of its excellent location between the two metropolitan areas and the highway access.
