Employees at Trump Marina Hotel Reject Unionization Efforts

On May 15, 2007, a surprise decision against the unionization drive came from the casino dealers of the Trump Marina Hotel Casino.

After initially giving positive feedback on joining the United Auto Workers, the casino dealers voted 183-175 against being represented by the UAW.

The United Auto Workers officials filed several charges before the labor board in Philadelphia. The UAW alleges that Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. officials used intimidation tactics before the election.

The UAW also alleges that the employees received their paychecks with a "No Vote" attachment on it. The management also suppressed the information regarding the union drive and put employees under surveillance, especially those leaning towards the unionization efforts.

An official from the Trump Entertainment denied the charges, saying that they did not do anything to influence the vote.

The UAW also claimed that they may have lost the election, but they are winning the campaign. The UAW also vows to continue their plans to represent the dealers in the 11 gambling casinos in Atlantic City.

The next dealers to vote regarding the union issue are the dealers at Hilton Atlantic City Casinos on May 26, 2007 and the dealers at the Bally Casino on June 2, 2007.
