The Labouchere Gambling System

The Labouchere gambling system is similar to the Martingale betting system, only it goes at a much slower pace. However, when using this system, as in the Martingale, care and discretion must be practiced. Although this system gives you a series of small wins at first, it will inevitably bring a large loss sooner or later. But then, that is the fate of all fixed betting systems.

In the Labouchere gambling system, bet the sum of the first and last numbers in a series, for example 1-2-3-4. In this instance, you add for and one, and then bet five units. If you win then cross out one and four and then add two and three and then, again, bet five units. If you lose the first bet, which was five units, add the loss to the end and continue with the series until all the numbers are crossed out. With this system you can, in theory at least, you can lose more bets than you win and still come out at a profit. However, as in the Martingale, you are actually increasing your bets with your loses, and a series of losses can either finish all your money, or push you over the table maximum.
