Pathological Gambling

Gambling is a pastime that is enjoyed by people of all ages across the Unites States. For many, it is something fun that they do in order to pass the time and win a few extra dollars. However, for many it is far more than just fun. It is a problem, an addiction, something akin to drug abuse and alcoholism. For these people, it is no longer something that is done just for fun, they fins that they cannot stop and must gamble more and more and more.

Pathological gambling is very similar to every other addiction, but it is so much harder to detect. When you see a gambler who is addicted, he will not have any needle marks, no real physical signs that will indicate that is he is indeed a pathological gambler. However, an addiction to gambling is real and it may have grave consequences for the gambler and his family. He may lose his job, his family and all his money. He may develop other addictions as well, such as alcohol.

It is important to see the signs as soon as you can in order to help the gambler and help him get through the hard times that await him.
