Wheeling and Mountaineer Debut Gaming Rooms

On October 29th, 2007, a lot of poker players in West Virginia will now be able to play right in their area now that the Wheeling Island Racing Track in Ohio County and the Mountaineer Racing Track in Hancock County.

During the previous months, the racing tracks in West Virginia have wage a campaign in order to win the right to host casino table games in their racing tracks aside from the new slot machines. The counties said that they should be allowed to host the casino table games so that they could cope up with the competition from slots parlors outside the state and they can offer additional jobs to the community.

With the green light from the voters, the racing tracks have not wasted time in making the idea happened and so did the players. Within two hours after the ribbon cutting ceremony which officially opened the poker rooms, the poker tables at the Wheeling Island Racing Track were full.

With the new proposal in the works, the Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center in Kanawha County in West Virginia is also planning to open their poker room this year. The racing tracks will also debut blackjack and roulette in their tracks by early 2008.
