Southland Park Will Hire Additional Manpower to Operate Video Gaming Machines

With their current campaign, Southland Park Gaming and Racing are hoping to offer over 250 job positions if i gaming will be approved for their currently running business. Adding video gaming machines requires additional man power.

On August 29th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and August 30th from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Southland Park Gaming will have a job fair at the former Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis. The positions to be filled are those of blackjack dealers, gaming floor managers, cashiers and food service workers.

Barry Baldwin said, "Applicants should come dressed for success. A salary wage will average about $30,000. The blackjack gaming machines can add up to a $6 million payroll."

Baldwin is anticipating nearly $40 million in enhanced facilities that will include a 280-seat mega-buffet, a nightclub with regular live entertainment, a 450-seat special events center, a gift shop and a 30,000 sq ft electronic gaming area that will hold the blackjack machines.

Officials will see the soft opening of the Southland Park Casino by October 15th and the grand opening on November 1st.

A state law passed in 2005 by Arkansas voters gave permission to Southland and Oaklawn Park, allowing them to add electronic "games of skill", such as the blackjack game.

Southland Park will add approximately 900 video gaming machines which will offer a variety of gambling games.
